Home Business Owners Working in the Garden

It is getting towards that time again when the days are longer, the weather is brighter and warmer, and we can hopefully enjoy some sun in the garden, between the rain showers. These showers have been far and few this year and we have been spoilt by the regular sunshine. This is a great time of year for the home business owners, because it means we can get outside and enjoy some fresh air when we need a break.

Running a business from home can be very isolating, because you are constantly at home working, and you often have no need to go out at all. You can certainly get exercise without going outdoors, thanks to things like exercise bikes and now the Wii as well, but there is no substitute for getting some fresh air on a daily basis. It does your mind and body the world of good to spend some time in the garden.

Fortunately with today’s technology we can enjoy working outdoors easier than we would have been able to in the past. For example if you have a laptop and Wi-Fi you can go outside in the garden, and work on battery power for a few hours. Provided you are sitting in the shade you can do so perfectly easily and have the convenience of the internet to use as well.

A lot depends on the type of work you do of course, but most computer based work can easily be done outside if you have Wi-Fi installed in your home. You may not want to spend all day out in the garden, but you can enjoy having a few hours outside when it is the right temperature. Not too hot and not too cold. Apart from anything else you will get some sun and fresh air, and also a change of scenery. This alone is good for your health as working in your home office all the time can be very tiring, repetitive and dull.

One thing you do have to be careful of however is that you can end up being distracted from what needs to be done. Your neighbour might think you are relaxing and pop over for a coffee when you really need to be getting some work done. You might end up sunbathing when you have a deadline to meet. Alternatively you might find those weeds in your flowerbeds a bit of a distraction, and you might have to pull those out before you do anything else. If you tend to be a bit like this you have to be aware of the possibility that you will end up getting less done if you leave your home office.

If it suits you to work outside for an hour or two in the morning before coming back indoors again, try it out. Alternatively you might want to get plenty done in the early hours of the day before enjoying some of the afternoon sunshine instead. If the bulk of your work is done before you head outside, you can relax a bit more and still get something else done at the same time.

So consider the outdoors this summer, make the garden your office and enjoy the weather whilst it lasts!

5 Tips On Working A Home Business

When working a home business there are a few things you can do that will help make sure your success. In this article were not going to talk specifically about sales or marketing, but rather things you can do to stay focused when you sit down and work every day.

Many people have a difficult time keeping their personal life separate from their home business. If you are having problems this way here are 5 tips that can help you become more effective when you do sit down and work.

1. Your schedule. One of the great benefits of working at home is you get to set the hours you actually work.

I would suggest that you only take business calls during business hours and personal calls during after hours. If you are involved in social networking separate out your business from your personal networking.

You should have a daily to do list you are focusing on. You should also have a posted schedule so your family knows when they can disturb you and when they need to leave you alone.

2. Take breaks. Whether you are working a home business part-time or full-time get away from the computer periodically.

You may want to actually schedule your breaks so you know how much time you have get your work done before you go on break. Go out and take a short walk, refill your water bottle, and so on.

The time you get away during your working hours can make you more productive when you do sit down and work. It’s important to keep your mind fresh when you work at home for yourself.

3. Home office. If you’re lucky you set up a spare bedroom and converted it into your home office.

At the very least convert a portion of a room into your home office. Your office is your work space where you are not to be disturbed when working.

Make it as comfortable as possible. Invest money in a good chair since you will spend a lot of time sitting in it.

Keep your home office free of clutter. A cluttered office can lead to a cluttered mind which will affect your productivity.

4. Attire. How should you dress when you work at home?

Some people like to actually dress just like they are going to a job outside of their home. This is totally up to you.

You want to be comfortable for sure. You may want to put on business casual attire if that helps you become more professional.

5. Computer and Internet. Spend a little money on a good computer with high-speed Internet. You will get a lot more work done when you don’t have to fiddle around with a computer that is slow.

These are a few tips on working a home business. You are your own boss and you control where and when you work so make it count.

#16; the mansion of V. P. Kochubeya. Later the St. Petersburg City Court.

This address was as well known to Russians as Number 10 Downing Street has been to the English, yet it is virtually unknown outside of Russia.
To Russians it was the feared HQ of the Tsarist secret political police (the Okhranka), until the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917.
The original building was designed for VP Kochubeya by the French architect Auguste de Montferrand, who adfterwards spent the rest of his life (40 yrs), building the colossal Catherdral of St Isaac in the city. Further changes were made here by architect PS Gardener and then again around 1890 by NF Brullov and RR Marfeld.
In 1858 the building became a Printing House and then from 1880 to 1917 officially The (dreaded) Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

#18; Pashkov House & House Levashova

A classical building dating from 1836 and designed by Albert Kavos with alterations to the main facade in 1910-1911 by architect Putincev Nikolai Mikhailovich.
Lieutenant General Nikolai Vasilievich Levashev bought the house in 1847 from the Pashkova family. The house then changed hands in succession to his sons Nikolay & Vladimir. The later serving as adjutant to Prince Mikhail Nikolaevich, the Governor of the Caucasus and then mayor of Odessa.
A business journal called "Russian Antiquities" was founded here in 1870 and continued publication until it was closed down in 1918.
Currently, the building houses the municipal government institution St. Petersburg Children’s Art School № 1 of the Central District.

#20: Originally built 1787-90 by architect F. Demertsov as the House of PV Neklyudova (home of the Ministry of the Imperial Court).

Prince A.N.Golitsyn moved into the house in 1812 having purchased it on behalf of the State. Alexander Nikolaevich Golitsyn (1773-1844) was a statesman, Honorary Member of the Petersburg Academy of Sciences (1826), Active Member of the Russian Academy (1806), Chief Procurator of the Synod (1803-17), Minister of Religious Affairs and People’s Education (1817-24), and President of the Biblical Society (1813-24). But he was just one of a long princely dynasty who were important in Russian society from the 16th Century until the Revolution of 1917.
Back to Prince A.N.Golitsyn – to the designs of A. Voronikhin he built The Church of the Holy Trinity on the top floor of the courtyard wing of this palatial house. It was of regal construction inside and out. Even the Tsar was known to pray here whilst he was out and about. Later the church was transferred to the Office of the Minister of the Imperial Court. Sadly in the 1930s the interior of the church was completely destroyed.

Difference Between Working at Home in Your Home Business and Working For a Boss

Working for your Boss in a paid job is one thing but working at home in your own home business is a different kettle of fish altogether. Unfortunately many people who start a home business realize this rather too late and find it difficult to make the necessary adjustments and end up in failure.

Working at home is fun, enjoyable and remunerative, if you know before hand what you are in for. This will enable you to prepare yourself for most eventualities and situations you may come across in your day to day work in your business.

When you work at home, your working environment will be completely different from that of your normal work place you are used to. No office mates, no hustle and bustle. You will probably be working all by yourself in your home office especially if you are an internet marketer.

Adapting yourself to this new environment is very important since you will be working long hours all by yourself. Though you might experience a sense of loneliness, the advantage is that you will be free of office politics and other connected problems and situations.

You are certainly going to miss the advice and guidance of your colleagues and superiors when problems arise in your work at home job. Hence it is important that you are very knowledgeable about your home business or you are sufficiently passionate and determined to acquire knowledge and grow your business as you go along.
One thing you will certainly enjoy when you work at home is that you will not have your Boss breathing over the back of your neck and pressurizing you.

You will enjoy the freedom and liberty of start working any time and winding up any time you like. This does not in any way mean that you are going to work lesser hours. This is not a 9 to 5 job but probably you will be working longer hours when the necessity arises. After all this is your business, you are the boss and your goal is to succeed.

The income from your paid job will be limited whereas in your home business the more hours of work you are prepared to put in the greater will be your success and your income.

When you work for a Boss, discipline and work ethics is forced on you. On the other hand working at home requires a lot of self discipline so that your household chores and other related activities do not interfere with your work at home job thus reducing your efficiency and output. Hence it stands to reason that you have a plan and a proper work schedule to enable you to concentrate and direct all your energies towards your work at home job.

One of the major benefits of working at home is the opportunity you get to spend more time with your family and some consider this as priceless.

Commuting to work and back is time consuming and expensive, whereas when you work at home, you are only a few steps away from your home office.

The time thus saved can be profitably utilized in operating your business.

Working in your home office all by yourself can at times be depressing and create a sense of loneliness. This can be overcome by joining recreational clubs and socializing on a planned basis.

Irrespective of whether you are working at home or working for a boss these major differences are there and play their part in the lives of individuals.

Tokyo By Night
office home business
Tokyo is one of the busiest cities in the world, I remember eating dinner on the top floor of our hotel and looking out to the office building opposite.

It was filled with Japanese business men or Kaishain in Japanese, we started eating at 6pm and they continued to work up until 9pm before finally heading home (or off to a Japanese bar to kick back and relax after a long day at work).

This is common practice in Japan, even though their official working hours are only 9-5 most Japanese men get to work an hour early and dont leave till about 8-9pm in the evening. That’s a 12 hour working day 6 days a week! as most Japanese offices are open on Saturdays too.

Japan has one of the highest suicide rates in the world and I can see why given how hard they all work each and every day.

This shot was taken from our Hotel Room in the Park Hotel in Tokyo. It was the easiest HDR shoot I did on this holiday I just placed the camera on the benches that were under the windows and set of the shutter remote then let Tokyo do the rest.
